IN THIS LESSON
Galatians 5:22-23 - “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law..” NIV
Take a deep breath and ask God what he would say to you. What does he want you to hear? Take note of any word, phrase, feeling or image that pops out or “shimmers” for you as you listen to the meditation.
Week 1 Meditation
Galatians 5:22-23 presents us with an invitation to grow.
It offers a path to know, love, and follow Christ.
A chance to become more like Christ.
A way to join Christ in the healing of the world.
It’s also something artists understand deeply:
We are called to live against the grain—
to bear something different.
We are called to bear fruit.
One fruit that meets us in our broken places.
One fruit that draws us back to God.
One fruit that reflects what it means to be made in God’s image.
[Pause]
Fruit takes time.
It doesn’t arrive fully formed.
It grows—quietly, slowly—under the surface.
[Pause]
These aren’t goals to achieve.
They’re not signs of perfection.
They’re evidence of something deeper:
the Spirit at work within us.
[Pause]
In everyday life,
this kind of growth may go unnoticed.
But it’s real.
And it’s holy.
[Pause]
Which fruit lingers for you?
Which one is calling your attention today?
Not because you need to earn it—
but because it’s already there,
waiting to be noticed.
[Pause]
We are reminded
“Against such things there is no law.”
There’s no rule that limits this fruit
No boundary can contain it.
It bears the kind of life that changes everything.
